I’ve always
been interested in exploring style from a very personal perceptive so I thought
I’d start the first of this series close to home. It’s a family affair today
people. I sat down with my sister, asked her a few questions about her style
and followed her around taking photos. Luckily we get on fairly okay with each other so we
survived all that quality time we spent time together.
Describe your
style in 3 words?
Classic,
comfortable and lazy
Would you
say you dress effortlessly?
No I don’t
think I dress effortlessly, it’s just I haven’t put an outfit together in a
long time. A lot of the things I’ve been wearing recently are stuff that would obviously
go together like a stripe top and jeans.
Style icons?
Alexa Chung for sure, most of my style icons are bloggers, I love Olivia from What Olivia Did, Sam from Samantha Maria. I also really like Lucy Williams from Fashion Me Now, she pretty much is what I hope to be like one day, she has such an effortless style, like literally always chic and put together. I guess people on the street as well, I know it sounds really cliché but living in London means you see really fashionable people everywhere, people that know how to dress really well and take chances with their style.
Has your style
influenced other things around you?
I guess my room is a good example of my style because it’s got lots of different things going on, its got a mid-century vibe but also a very vintage, rustic home vibe and that’s just pretty much me. You can see this in my outfits, like I could be going out and have a boho vibe but I could also be wearing trainers that have a very sport luxe vibe.
What are your style essentials?
Blue jeans because they are so effortless and cool, a really great black bag because it goes with everything. A good pair of flat shoes, a good pair of ankle boots and a really good tailored coat that looks amazing with everything.
How would
you say living in London has impacted on your style?
I think
people here dress amazing first of all but I do think it is very easy for
people in London to look very similar, I remember talking to friends who didn’t
live in London about how popular Stan smiths were and they’d said “really? We haven’t
seen anyone wearing them”. I think London is a central hub to see what’s going
on in style and I think because of that people end up looking the same but it’s
that sameness that pushes you to be different.
You’re in a rush, what are your go to items?
Stripe top, blue jeans and probably trainers, but every time I wear trainers I always feel a little dishevelled so I would maybe wear boots to look a little more put together.
