Köln at Christmas

If you didn't know Germany goes all out when it comes to Christmas and after a weekend getaway to Cologne last week I witnessed this Christmas love in full effect. The city hosted several Christmas markets this year and they were all I hoped they would be with pretty lights, delicious crepes and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. So if you're still feeling Christmasy, here are some photos from my recent trip to add more fuel to that festive flame.

Have a very happy and prosperous new year x

A Conversation on style

I’ve always been interested in exploring style from a very personal perceptive so I thought I’d start the first of this series close to home. It’s a family affair today people. I sat down with my sister, asked her a few questions about her style and followed her around taking photos. Luckily we get on fairly okay with each other so we survived all that quality time we spent time together.

Describe your style in 3 words?

Classic, comfortable and lazy

Would you say you dress effortlessly?

No I don’t think I dress effortlessly, it’s just I haven’t put an outfit together in a long time. A lot of the things I’ve been wearing recently are stuff that would obviously go together like a stripe top and jeans.

Style icons?

Alexa Chung for sure, most of my style icons are bloggers, I love Olivia from What Olivia Did, Sam from Samantha Maria. I also really like Lucy Williams from Fashion Me Now, she pretty much is what I hope to be like one day, she has such an effortless style, like literally always chic and put together. I guess people on the street as well, I know it sounds really cliché but living in London means you see really fashionable people everywhere, people that know how to dress really well and take chances with their style.

Has your style influenced other things around you?

I guess my room is a good example of my style because it’s got lots of different things going on, its got a mid-century vibe but also a very vintage, rustic home vibe and that’s just pretty much me. You can see this in my outfits, like I could be going out and have a boho vibe but I could also be wearing trainers that have a very sport luxe vibe.

What are your style essentials?

Blue jeans because they are so effortless and cool, a really great black bag because it goes with everything. A good pair of flat shoes, a good pair of ankle boots and a really good tailored coat that looks amazing with everything.
How would you say living in London has impacted on your style?

I think people here dress amazing first of all but I do think it is very easy for people in London to look very similar, I remember talking to friends who didn’t live in London about how popular Stan smiths were and they’d said “really? We haven’t seen anyone wearing them”. I think London is a central hub to see what’s going on in style and I think because of that people end up looking the same but it’s that sameness that pushes you to be different.

You’re in a rush, what are your go to items?

Stripe top, blue jeans and probably trainers, but every time I wear trainers I always feel a little dishevelled so I would maybe wear boots to look a little more put together.

Do & See in Marseille

It feels very nostalgic writing about something I did back in February but I thought I’d start my first travel post of hopefully many travel posts reminiscing over one of my favourite travels to Marseille. Similarly to many the image I had of the south of France were people relaxing by the beach sipping on a glass of wine, but this is only half the story add in about a thousand cars, sirens and the hustle and bustle of any major city. This isn’t a bad thing but adds to the realness of the city, Marseille truly has the best of both worlds. Even though I was there for only a day and a half I felt like I was able to get a well-rounded experience of the city, so if you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods here are few things to see and do.

5 questions on Yinka

Hello I’m Yinka and I’m a 20 year old student from London.

Favourite TV show?

My favourite series of all time has to be The Office US. Seriously who do I need to speak to bring that show back? The show is pure comedic genius, I’m even considering re-watching the whole show from start to finish again, I’m talking 9 seasons people but trust me it’s worth it.

Go to clothing stores?

This depends, there are shops like Cos and &Other Stories, whose clothes and aesthetic give me so much life. But they are simply for the eyes because my bank account cannot hack it. But Monki, Zara and Mango do me just fine for now.

Would you rather have a horse’s head or a horse’s leg?

I think I would rather have the legs. I mean could you imagine the beyonce-esque strut I would be able to achieve with those long beautiful toned legs. And with the face? I don’t think I could go through the rest of my life with people asking me ‘why the long face’ at every opportunity.

Last thing that made you laughed so hard you couldn’t breathe?

The last thing was when I slipped and fell on my face. It took place during a very heated game of Heads Up and I was about to start arguing the fact that my team had won and unfortunately stepped onto a very slippery mat, falling to my face. Even though it was very embarrassing it provided some much needed comic relief to what was a very heated debate.

So what’s this all about?

Well I’ve been reading blogs ever since I was 13 years old so, after many years of wanting to start one this year I thought I would finally bite the bullet and just do it. This blog will showcase me dabbling in everything I’m interested in like style, faith, current affairs and much more. So welcome to my little space of the internet.

Hope you’ve enjoyed learning a bit more about me and hope you’ll stick around.
